Preparing for Surgery
To prepare, Dr. Martin Benjamin consults one-on-one with breast augmentation patients to evaluate their anatomy, health, and history, and ultimate goals. Using Vectra® 3D imaging, he can preview possible outcomes, helping you feel confident in your decision. At the consultation, patients are provided with clear pre-surgical guidelines, which may include:
- Avoiding certain medications and supplements
- Fasting instructions
- Arranging for safe transportation after surgery
How the Rapid Recovery Technique Works
The rapid recovery breast augmentation procedure begins with complete numbing of the breast tissue before any incisions are made. This helps minimize postoperative pain and promotes faster healing.
Once the area is prepared, small incisions are placed in discreet locations, typically in the inframammary fold beneath the breast or around the nipple in the periareolar region. A precise pocket is then created to accommodate the implant, with placement options including subglandular (above the muscle), submuscular (beneath the muscle), or a dual-plane approach for optimal support and contour.
The implant is carefully inserted using a Keller Funnel™ to ensure minimal handling and accurate positioning. Finally, the incisions are closed with dissolvable sutures and reinforced with medical adhesives. A supportive surgical bra is then applied to protect the area and aid in the recovery process.
Adding a Breast Lift
For women experiencing sagging in addition to volume loss, a breast lift can be performed at the same time as augmentation. This combination procedure elevates the breast tissue, restores youthful positioning, and delivers a comprehensive transformation with a single recovery period.
