During a VASER liposuction procedure, the treatment area is injected with a local anesthetic and a saline solution to minimize bruising and bleeding. The surgeon then inserts ultrasound probes into the skin through a small incision and begins liquifying the fat. A cannula, or tiny tube, is then used to remove the fat and some of the saline solution. Some of the solution is left in your body to reduce pain after the procedure.
In addition to the precise removal of targeted areas of fat, VASER liposuction results in higher skin retraction, creating smoother results than traditional liposuction. Your results will depend on your individual goals that you will discuss with your surgeon. Your results have the potential to be permanent if you maintain a healthy diet and exercise plan.
After VASER liposuction, your body may be bruised and swollen in the treated areas. You will be given cotton pads to dress these areas, as they will be releasing fluid for the next 24 to 48 hours. You will need to wear a compression garment for several weeks to control the swelling. After 3 to 6 months, you will be able to see your results more clearly. However, for some people, it may take longer.
